How We Digitize Your Slides

Cleaning & Sorting
Our technicians take the necessary steps to prepare your slides before scanning them to ensure that they are of the highest quality. This includes using compressed air to remove surface dust and debris. If you have a specific order in which you would like your slides to be scanned, please organize them into numbered groups beforehand. Please note that we cannot organize your slides for you, so please ensure that they are properly arranged beforehand.
Please note: We cannot guarantee the order of individual slides, as many variables would prevent us from doing this, such as slide damage or special formats that must be scanned separately. Please call us for more information on organizing your slides.
High Resolution Scanning w/Custom-Built Scanners
Thanks to our custom-built scanners, we are able to provide you with high-quality, 3,200 dpi JPEG files for all of your scanned slides. At 3,200 dpi, the resolution is perfect for viewing digital images on a monitor or LCD projector, as well as for creating stunning prints.
Our state-of-the-art scanners ensure that every detail of your slides is preserved and digitized with the utmost care and precision. With our expertise in scanning and image processing, you can trust us to deliver exceptional results every time.

Quality Inspection
After your images have been scanned, they are color-corrected. Once your slides have been color-corrected, they undergo a custom inspection process to ensure that each image meets the highest standards possible.
Our team of technicians takes great care in examining each slide individually, making sure that each image is properly rotated, cropped, and aligned to the frame edge. With our commitment to custom inspection of each slide, you can be confident that your final images will look great for decades to come.
Secure Storage
We understand how important your slides are to you and we value their security as much as you do. That's why we take extra care in ensuring that all materials sent to be digitized are kept secure throughout the process. Rest assured, that along with their digitized copies, all your original materials will be returned to you in a safe and secure manner.
Loose slides will be returned to you in our archival, acid-free storage boxes, which will prevent any damage or degradation of the slides due to environmental factors. Similarly, slides in standard Kodak carousels will be kept intact and returned to you securely for your convenience. At every step of the way, we prioritize the safety and security of your slide memories.

Service Extras & Add-Ons

Add 50% for slides in metal holders or plastic binder sleeves
Slides with metal/aluminum frame holders or slides in plastic binder sleeves will incur an addtional 50% handling fee. You can remove your slides from these devices before delivering them to us to avoid this fee.

Custom folders: $5 each
Loose slides will all be scanned together with no separation. Standard Kodak carousels will be separated into folders. Each carousel will be scanned into a separate folder and labeled. If you wish to have your slides separated into folders during the scanning process, organize your slides into the groups you wish to keep separate and label them (Group 1, Group 2, etc.). Contact us for more details on organizing your slides.

Extra data DVD copies: $5 each
Orders of less than 400 slides will be returned on a premium quality data DVD. A data DVD is only meant to store your images and cannot be viewed in a traditional DVD player as a movie. If your computer still has a DVD drive, you can insert and download your images from this disc directly to your device.

USB flash drives: starting at $15 each
If you have more than 400 slides, they will be returned on a USB flash drive. 1 free USB is included for orders of 400+ slides. If your computer does not have a DVD drive, you can purchase USB flash drives from us. The majority of our customers choose this option as flash drives can conveniently be used on modern computers and also with smart televisions.
IMPORTANT! It is strongly advised to promptly back up your image files either onto your computer or a cloud-based service (Dropbox, Google Photos, iCloud, etc.) of your preference once you have received your order in full. As time passes, flash drives may potentially become damaged or corrupted, rendering the stored data unreadable. In the event that additional copies are required, we retain all digital files on our system for up to 30 days following the completion of your order.

What Our Clients Say
"Most of my slides were over 60 years old and they came out very nice. I had almost 500 slides to be converted and I wanted them in a certain order. Nostalgic Media did everything I asked them to do. These people really know what they are doing."
- Dieter H. Schneider
"Back in 1975 my job took me to Alaska where I lived for the next ten years. Those memories are a treasure to me now. From an assortment of 2,550 slides I culled out 500+ slides and had Nostalgic convert them to digital .jpg files. I’ve wanted to organize those slides for a very long time. Now it’s done and done well. Those files are more than pictures. They are memories of times, places and people, including my wife whom I met in Fairbanks. Thank you Nostalgic."
- Joseph Lenzi
"Very thrilled with the outcome of the 70 year old slides that you converted to digital files for me. The end product was a lot better than I expected. This was the first time I have seen pictures of my father from when he was a young boy in the 1950s. He passed last year and these keepsakes are very treasured."

Why You Should Convert Slides to Digital
Slides degrade over time
35mm slides had long been a popular medium for preserving memories and important moments. However, over time, these slides degrade, resulting in a loss of image quality and clarity. This is due to a number of factors, including exposure to light, heat, and humidity, as well as chemical reactions between the slide film and the surrounding air. As a result, many individuals are turning to digital solutions to preserve their precious memories.
Converting your slides to digital is the best way to prevent them from deteriorating any further. By digitizing your slides, you'll be able to store them on your computer, smartphone, or in the cloud, ensuring that they are safe and secure. Additionally, you'll be able to share your images with others more easily, as you'll be able to send them via email or post them on social media

Preserve memories for future generations
Digitizing slides is a simple and cost-effective way to ensure that your memories are preserved for generations to come. It is also environmentally friendly, as it eliminates the need for physical storage space and reduces the amount of waste generated by traditional photo storage methods. If you have a collection of slides that you want to preserve, consider digitizing them today.
Digitizing slides is not just about preserving memories; it's also about making them accessible to future generations. Digital images can be easily shared and accessed, making it possible for family members and friends to relive memories and stories that might have otherwise been lost. It's also an excellent way to ensure that your family history and legacy are passed down to future generations.

Yes. All slides sent to us for scanning will be returned with your completed order. Slides in Kodak carousels will be returned intact, while loose slides and slides in trays, boxes, etc. will be returned in our archival, acid-free storage boxes.
We cannot guarantee the order of individual slides during scanning. You may organize your slides into numbered groups, and we will do our best to scan the groups in your specified order. A number of factors would prevent us from guaranteeing your slides being scanned in order, such as some of the slides being damaged, different film formats which cannot be mixed, as well as the presence of any special format slides. Please call us for more information on organizing your slides.
Slides brought to us in plastic organizational sleeves, or slides that have metal frame holders, will incur an additional 50% handling charge. We recommend removing your slides from these accessories before they are delivered to us.
Yes. We clean all slides of surface dust and debris before scanning takes place. Slides with mold damage or embedded dust and debris unfortunately cannot be repaired.
You can ship your slides to us or drop them off at our facility in Atlanta, GA. Even for smaller slide orders, we highly recommend using a sturdy box if shipping an order to us. Bubble wrap and newspaper are great ways to fill space and protect your slides from damage during transit. If your slides are in carousels, magazines or trays, simply send them as they are. We will take care of the rest. Loose slides can be put into zip-lock bags for extra protection.
