Archival Grade DVDs

Our standard U-Matic to DVD transfer service converts each of your videotapes to a separate archival grade DVD. These DVDs are rated to last for 100 years or more, so you know that your memories will be safe for future generations to enjoy. Enjoy your newly converted videos on any standard DVD player or computer with a DVD drive.

Learn more about MP4 files

Safe & Secure Storage
When you add MP4 digital files to your U-Matic to DVD order of less than 4 tapes, your digital files will be delivered to you on a single data DVD. You will be able to insert this DVD disc into any computer with a disc reader to view and save your digital files to your computer.

Orders of 4 tapes or more with added MP4 files will have all digital files delivered to you on a single USB flash drive. USB flash drives are a convenient and safe way to have all your U-Matic digital files in one place.

Note: For newer computers without a disc drive, you will want to add on a USB flash drive with your order if one will not already be included.

*An Important Note About MP4 Files & USB Flash Drives

We highly recommend backing up your MP4 files directly to your computer or to a cloud service of your choice upon receiving your completed order. Over time, flash drives can become corrupt for any number of reasons, making it impossible to read the data that is stored on them. We keep all digital files on our system for up to 30 days after your order has been completed if extra copies are needed.

How It Works

Why Use A Professional U-Matic Transfer Service?

3/4" U-Matic tapes are subject to signal loss and damage. Transfer equipment is no longer made and spare parts are becoming scarce. Someday, there may not be a way to digitize your old tapes and the memories they hold. The best time to convert U-Matic to digital is now before it becomes too late.

With our 3/4" U-Matic transfer service, Nostalgic Media makes it easy to preserve your aging memories for generations to come. You can once again enjoy the family vacations, birthdays and weddings you thought you would never be able to see again.

Since 1989, we have helped countless families bring their family memories into the digital age. Each order is handled with care and given personal attention right here in our lab in Atlanta, GA. Rest easy knowing your media is kept safe every step of the way. With over 30 years of professional experience in video production and photography, we have the skills and expertise needed to turn your aging U-Matic tapes into long lasting digital keepsakes.

Don't Wait To Convert Your Aging Videos

As tapes age, they become more vulnerable to a number of issues arising that could make it difficult to preserve the content that is on them. Tapes that have been stored in an environment exposed to heat and humidity will experience greater signal loss than those stored in a cool and dry environment. It is not a good idea to playback your video tapes in an old VCR you may still have laying around. This can lead to shedding, tape wear, and possibly tape damage that cannot be repaired.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you combine my tapes onto a single DVD?

No. Each videotape is converted to a separate archival grade DVD. We create our DVDs according to industry standards for Video and Data DVDs. Our DVDs will play on nearly any stand-alone DVD player. If your DVD player was manufactured after 2001 and reads DVD-R media (the most common type), it’s likely to play the DVD. Some Blu-Ray players will not play any type of recordable media, please consult your player's owner's manual to determine compatibility with DVD-R type media.

Can I submit copyright material?

No. If you do not own the copyright of the material submitted, it is illegal for us to make copies. Any copyrighted material included in your transfer order will not be processed if it is available for purchase on DVD or as a digital download. Please call us for more details if you are unsure of your videotapes’ copyright status.

What if some of my tapes are blank?

No. If you submit tapes that are blank or too damaged for us to convert, you will not be charged.

Can my damaged tapes be repaired?

Depending on the type of damage, Yes. There is a $20 repair charge for each damaged videotape. If we encounter any damaged tapes after you submit your order, we will call you before any repairs are made/charged. Please contact us for more information.
