Our Photo Scanning Services

At Nostalgic Media, we understand your aging photos contain priceless family memories. When choosing a company to scan your photos to digital files, it is important to know that your photos will be safe throughout the entire process.

Did you know that some photo digitizing services actually ship your photos away to low-wage countries to be scanned? Not us. Our skilled technicians scan each of your photos by hand, right here at our lab in Atlanta, GA. Nothing ever leaves our lab. You can actually pick up the phone and talk to the technicians who scan your aging photos.
Hi-Speed Scanning Service
This service is designed for photos printed on photo paper from the past 50 years, commonly thought of as "1-Hour Prints." We can scan loose photos free of tape and glue, from a 3x3 to an 8x10 inch print. For more delicate photos, older photos with deckled edges, documents, or newspaper clippings, choose our Custom Scanning service.

Scanning Resolution - 300 DPI - This is the perfect resolution for viewing your photos on your computer screen or phone. This resolution will also allow you to make quality prints from your scans.
Custom Scanning Service
If your photos do not fit the above criteria for hi-speed scanning, we can still preserve them through our Custom Photo Scanning service. With this service, we scan each individual photo by hand, ensuring that any delicate and fragile photos are handled with the utmost care. For photos we cannot scan as part of our hi-speed bulk scanning service, this is the next option.

Scanning Resolution - 600 DPI - If you are planning on making enlargements of your photos larger than 11x17, our 600 DPI scans will allow you to do so.

Scanning Resolution & DPI

What exactly is DPI? DPI stands for Dots (of ink) Per Inch. To put it simply, the more dots per inch, the sharper the image. Our base photo scanning resolution starts at 300 DPI, which is perfect for viewing your images on your computer screens, and for making beautifully sharp prints.

What Our Customers Say

Why Use A Professional Photo Scanning Service?

If you still have a collection of old family photographs gathering dust in your attic, you will want to scan your photos to digital before it is too late. The older photos get, the greater risk there is for them becoming damaged and therefore making it more difficult to preserve the memories stored on them. Fading, discoloration and curling are just a few of the issues photos face over time, even for photos that have been stored in optimal conditions! (light controlled, humidity controlled, and pollution controlled storage preferably).

While it is possible to scan your photo collection yourself using commercially bought scanners, the quality of these scanners varies greatly, not to mention the price tag that comes with these scanners and the amount of time it would take. What you might think would be a weekend project can quickly turn into a days-long or even weeks-long undertaking!

Let Nostalgic Media do all the hard work for you. Since 1989, we have helped countless families bring their family memories into the digital age. Each order is handled with care and given personal attention right here in our lab in Atlanta, GA. Rest easy knowing your media is kept safe every step of the way. With over 30 years of professional experience in video production and photography, we have the skills and expertise needed to turn your aging family photos into forever digital keepsakes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make prints of my scanned photos?

No. We do not offer printing services. But once we have scanned your photos, you can have prints made at another location from the digital files we provide you.

Can you scan my images in order?

We cannot guarantee the order of individual photos, but in some cases, yes. For the hi-speed scans we must scan similar sized photos together, so if your photos are the same size then we should be able to maintain the the order you give us the photos in. Use a rubber band to bundle each stack of photos together and number each bundle. If your photos are a variety of sizes that are mixed or require flatbed scanning, we are unable to keep them in order.

What scanning resolution is best?

Our standard hi-speed scanning resolution is 300 DPI. This is the perfect resolution if you are planning to save and view your photos on computer and phone screens. This resolution will also allow you to make quality prints from your scans. Our custom scanning resolution is 600 DPI. If you are planning to make enlargements of your photos larger than 11x17, this resolution will allow you to do so.
