VHS tapes are about 7 inches wide and 4 inches deep
These tapes were the most common consumer format videotape, used with desktop VCRs to record television shows and view pre recorded movies. Remember Blockbuster Video? Those movies were VHS.
VHS was also a common format for camcorders since the same tape would play in your VCR without an adapter. Shelf life varies among tape grades and manufacturers. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. The expensive, high-grade tapes usually last longer than the cheap bargain basement variety.

Our standard VHS to DVD transfer service converts each of your videotapes to a separate archival grade DVD. These DVDs are rated to last for 100 years or more, so you know that your memories will be safe for future generations to enjoy. Enjoy your newly converted home movies on any standard DVD player or computer with a DVD drive.
Want to future-proof your memories? MP4 digital files allow you to save and view your aging VHS tapes on all your modern digital devices, which include computers, phones and tablets. MP4 digital files also allow you to edit your home movies directly on your home computer. Not only that, but by converting VHS to digital, sharing your digitized memories with friends and family becomes a breeze.
When you add MP4 digital files to your VHS to DVD order of less than 5 tapes, your digital files will be delivered to you on a single data DVD. You will be able to insert this DVD disc into any computer with a disc reader to view and save your digital files to your computer.
Orders of 5 tapes or more with added MP4 files will have all digital files delivered to you on a single USB flash drive. USB flash drives are a convenient and safe way to have all your VHS digital files in one place.
Note: For newer computers without a disc drive, you will want to add on a USB flash drive with your order if one will not already be included.
An Important Note About MP4 Files & USB Flash Drives
We highly recommend backing up your MP4 files directly to your computer or to a cloud service of your choice upon receiving your completed order. Over time, flash drives can become corrupt for any number of reasons, making it impossible to read the data that is stored on them. We keep all digital files on our system for up to 30 days after your order has been completed if extra copies are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you combine my tapes onto a single DVD?
No. Each videotape is converted to a separate archival grade DVD. We create our DVDs according to industry standards for Video and Data DVDs. Our DVDs will play on nearly any stand-alone DVD player. If your DVD player was manufactured after 2001 and reads DVD-R media (the most common type), it’s likely to play the DVD. Some Blu-Ray players will not play any type of recordable media, please consult your player's owner's manual to determine compatibility with DVD-R type media.
Can I submit copyright material?
No. If you do not own the copyright of the material submitted, it is illegal for us to make copies. Any copyrighted material included in your transfer order will not be processed if it is available for purchase on DVD or as a digital download. Please call us for more details if you are unsure of your videotapes’ copyright status.
What if some of my tapes are blank?
If you submit tapes that are blank or too damaged for us to convert, you will not be charged.
Can my damaged tapes be repaired?
Depending on the type of damage, Yes. There is a $20 repair charge for each damaged videotape. If we encounter any damaged tapes after you submit your order, we will call you before any repairs are made/charged. Please contact us for more information.
