35mm Negatives

The standard and most widely used film format. 35mm film comes in a cartridge, commonly recognizable by its small size and perforated edges. It's a compact film, commonly used in point-and-shoot cameras and SLRs. The individual frames are typically 24mm x 36mm in size.

APS/Consumer Format

Consumer formats vary widely but generally refer to film used in non-professional cameras. These may include APS (Advanced Photo System) film or other proprietary formats. APS film, for instance, is distinctive with its cartridge design and smaller, rounded-edge frames. Dimensions vary but often fall in the range of 16mm x 24mm for APS.

Large format film is typically used in professional photography and offers high resolution. Unlike smaller formats, large format film is individual sheets, not on a roll. The dimensions can range from 4x5 inches to 8x10 inches or more. Recognizable by its single, large sheet, large format film is commonly used in view cameras. Max size accepted: 4x5 inches.

Professional 120 film is a medium format film often preferred by professional photographers. It comes in a spool and produces larger negatives. The film size is 60mm wide, and the frames vary between 6x4.5cm, 6x6cm, 6x7cm, 6x9cm, or other square/rectangular formats. Recognizable by its spool and larger dimensions compared to 35mm.

Kodak Disc Format

The Kodak Disc film was a consumer-oriented format known for its simplicity. It comes in a flat, disc-shaped cartridge, and each frame is tiny, approximately 8mm in diameter. Recognizable by its distinctive disc shape, this format was popular in the 1980s and early 1990s for easy-to-use point-and-shoot cameras.

To make the shipping process convenient, we allow you to use any box you already have at home or have picked up from any USPS, UPS, or FedEx office to securely package and send your items. Simply include your order form or online order confirmation within the package.

After digitizing your negatives, we return the originals in archival acid-free envelopes to ensure their long-term preservation. *Please note that we must scan every frame on a strip of negatives. Individual frames cannot be selected for scanning.

Impressed!

Nostalgic Media is the one to call if you have old media such as slides, home movies, and even old audiocassettes lying around. On two occasions, some leftover "mystery" media surfaced in my attic after I thought I had digitized it all.
